Dr Ofa Dewes appointed Member of The New Zealand Order of Merit

The Maurice Wilkins Centre is delighted to report that Dr Ofanaite Dewes has been appointed as a Member of The New Zealand Order of Merit in the 2023 King’s Birthday and Coronation Honours List for her services to health and the Pacific community.
Dr Dewes is a supervisor and mentor to a number of postgraduate Pacific students and a strong advocate for all Pacific students. She is also a key advisor to the MWC on Pacific Strategy and has made significant contributions to MWC strategy over many years.
Her strong commitment to improving health outcomes for the Pacific community has been evident in the many leadership roles she has taken on and her involvement in countless COVID-19 vaccination drives in the Pacific community.
On behalf of her peers and colleagues in the MWC we congratulate Dr Dewes on this well deserved honour.
