Dr Jilly Evans named in top 50 Women of Achievement list

Dr Jilly Evans, a founding member of the Maurice Wilkins Centre Scientific Advisory Board, has been named in the 50 Women of Achievement list compiled by Zonta Clubs New Zealand.
Dr Evans is a passionate advocate for women in scientific careers, as well as causes alleviating childhood poverty and helping New Zealand to find a good working model for commercialising biotechnology research.
Dr Evans has been a member of the Maurice Wilkins Centre Scientific Advisory Board since 2003, and has considerable expertise including leading drug development programmes in Canada and the United States. She is co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of PharmAkea LLC in San Diego.
Alongside her latest accolade as one of the top 50 Women of Achievement, Dr Evans also received an honorary fellowship of the Royal Society of New Zealand in 2002 and the KEA World Class New Zealander Award in 2010.
Dr Evans returns to New Zealand regularly and will be presenting a research seminar at the University of Auckland on March 21 titled “Autotaxin, the major lysophosphatidic acid-producing enzyme: structure and roles in liver fibrosis.”
