In association with BEANZ, we are excited to announce that the Maurice Wilkins Centre (MWC) biology teacher professional development days are back for 2024!

These PD days are free to attend and will be packed with learning. Our workshops bring together some of New Zealand's leading scientists to present up-to-date information tailored to NCEA and the national curriculum. Their stories, knowledge, and PowerPoint resources will inspire us as learners and be helpful in our teaching.

We are delighted with the speakers we have for this year, and they are all keen to meet with you and share in some kōrero. Our speakers are:
- Dr Andrew Munkacsi, on medicine-guided chemistry and genomics to support Māori and Pasifika communities
- Dr Catherine Collins, on genetics, phylogeography, and human migrations
- Dr Alan Cameron, on modifying biomolecules to tackle challenges in infectious diseases
- Ms Jordon Lima, on cancer, genetics, and improving cancer care in Tairāwhiti
- Prof Dave Grattan, on thermal and weight homeostasis
