Dr Debina Sarkar
Currently, I am working as a post-doctoral fellow in the laboratories of both Prof. Antony Braithwaite and Dr. Sunali Mehta. In Braithwaite group, we are interested in investigating the efficacy of a small molecule APR-246 in interacting and inhibiting the oncogenic Δ133p53 isoforms in prostate cancer. In Mehta group, we are interested in investigating the biological significance of certain yet uncharacterised mutations in TP53, a wellknown tumour suppressor gene. Working in such diverse labs have given me the tools to establish myself as an independent researcher by using bioinformatics and computational approaches along with molecular biology to generate knowledge that can assist with clinical management of cancer. I wish to develop my research niche in gaining a better understanding of alternative non-apoptotic cell death modalities like ferroptosis.
